Devlog 4
In our board game, we chose the idea of curling as our type of sport for the project. We decided on the name of the game being Skrewball, it was loosely based on the naming scheme of Sorry since in that game you say sorry to the opponent. While in our game we chant "3... 2... 1... Skrewball!" and then slide our pieces on the board. After that, if you hit an enemy player you say "Skrew you!". For the playability of the game, we decided on 2-4 players but also potentially more even spanning to 4-8 players in total. Basically having teams of two for each side of the board for more fun and chaoticness. Instead of having 8 "Stones" to curl we decided on 3 "Stones" which are our beads we slide on the board, we might increase it to 4 or 6 but I would have to ask my group about that. - 1:29 - Rules of Curling EXPLAINED : How to Play Curling : CURLING. We wanted to make this type of game more so to engage the player, I wanted to make sure the game had a more physical aspect seen in the actual curling sport. "I think its designers if we can get players to care about the outcome of our games, they'll be more engaged, more focused. And the games will ultimately be more meaningful to them." - 1:45 - Making it Matter: Lessons from Real Sports. We also added a deathmatch aspect as well, if players tied in first place then a final match would take place to raise the stakes. "Sports is drama, right this focus on human suffering, frustration, striving, that's absolutely core to the spectator experience in sports." - 9:46 - Making it Matter: Lessons from Real Sports.
